Who we are

Crescent Kids Homeschool Co-op, hosted at Tampa Homeschool Hub, is a Waldorf-inspired cooperative rooted in both strong community values and contemporary research into child development and brain growth. Our approach is informed by ongoing study of how children’s brains form, strengthen, and reorganize neural connections—supporting experiences that encourage synapses to fire, pathways to deepen, and new connections to grow through meaningful, developmentally appropriate work.

Families work hand-in-hand to keep our co-op running smoothly, sharing daily responsibilities and contributing their presence, skills, and ideas. While the co-op is guided by clear leadership rather than consensus alone, collaboration remains central. Every family plays an active role in shaping and sustaining our offerings in service of the children.

We place strong emphasis on whole-child, developmentally appropriate learning, honoring the physical, emotional, social, cognitive, and imaginative needs of each child. Through rhythm, hands-on activity, movement, nature-based experiences, and rich human connection, we create an environment that supports healthy brain development alongside deep, meaningful learning.

As part of Tampa Homeschool Hub, families are also connected to a wider community that offers ongoing co-op classes, field trips, parent education, social classes, and seasonal gatherings—providing continuity, belonging, and support for both children and parents.

At the heart of Crescent Kids is a shared commitment to children’s well-being and to offering a nurturing, enriching, Waldorf-centered experience—held and sustained through community, intention, and informed educational practice.

Leadership & Community Roles

As Director, Louise holds the big picture of the co-op—caring for the physical space, managing finances, interviewing new members and teachers, and overseeing lesson plans and festival celebrations. She also ensures that daily operations and our online presence run smoothly.

Our Administrative Team, made up in part of dedicated parents, is the engine that keeps everything moving. These members work collaboratively to coordinate events, organize field trips, facilitate lesson-planning meetings, and support the rhythm and structure of our community.

At the very heart of Crescent Kids are our Parents. Some serve on the administrative team, while others volunteer as teachers, assist during planning meetings, and share in the joy and responsibility of education. With teaching and volunteering rotating among families, the load is lightened, relationships deepen, and our community flourishes together.

New to Waldorf? You are warmly welcome. Our monthly gatherings provide opportunities to learn alongside us, develop new skills, and grow in understanding of child development and Waldorf-inspired education. We also encourage ongoing learning at home so that families and children can grow together on this journey.

Not a Waldorf homeschooler? No problem. Crescent Kids also serves as a rich enrichment program, thoughtfully designed to complement a variety of home education styles—offering children rigor, depth, beauty, and meaningful experiences within their broader learning journey.
