If you want your children to be intelligent, read them fairytales. If you want them to be more intelligent, read them more fairytales.
— Albert Einstein
Ages 5-7
Early childhood is such a magical time of discovery and wonder. A gentle unfolding that’s meant to be savored, not rushed. Together, we’ll journey through the early kindergarten curriculum sprinkled with extra adventures that bring learning to life. Imagine the joy of stories that enchant, the beauty of creation that inspires, and the marvel of Allah’s world unfolding all around us.
For our vibrant 5, 6 and 7 year-olds, we dive a bit deeper, more energetic movement, games that spark laughter, circle times full of connection, stories that ignite imagination, crafting sessions that turn little hands into artists, and of course, shared snack and lunch times that build community.
Some parents wonder if their eager little ones need more rigorous academics at this stage. At Crescent Kids Homeschool Co-op, we believe in meeting their curiosity with a richer experience—one that develops gross and fine motor skills, nurtures empathy, sparks imagination through play and stories, and encourages a heartfelt connection to Allah’s natural creation and the great outdoors.
Our curriculum dances with the slow turning of the seasons, following the natural rhythms of the year. Each day is infused with songs, stories, and artwork that complement the wonders outside. Your child will delight in open-ended creative playtime, building a strong natural foundation in literacy, numeracy, and creative thinking.
Supplementary Field trips and extra lessons, will include exploring the beautiful outdoors, feeling the sandy beaches beneath their feet, cooking under the open sky, and plenty of time for play, observation, and wholehearted immersion in nature’s classroom. It’s more than learning—it’s a joyful celebration of growth, wonder, and connection.

Our curriculum is centred on the following research, and we think these articles will also be beneficial to families at home:
“Improving Children’s Health Through Play: Exploring Issues and recommendations” By Jean Almon, A collaboration between Alliance for childhood and US Play Coalition.
Reading Instruction in Kindergarten: Little to Gain and Much to Lose.
The Kindergarten classroom is a bridge between family and ‘school’ life. Every day has an artistic activity which creates a soothing weekly rhythm for the children. See above for examples of activities. They will have imaginative play, letter and number exploration, seasonal observations and handwork activities.
Main lesson - Main Lesson will be centred around engaging stories. Craft projects, sharing with the class and practice with early non-formal literacy and pre-maths skills may be infused into the time.
Circle Time - The children will be lead through a variety of games, movement, songs and poetry in, English, Arabic and Spanish.
Art - The artistic projects will help to foster the child’s natural sense of beauty and wonder.
Handwork - The children will work with their guide to cultivate focus, patience, and perseverance whilst strengthening fine motor- skills and confidence.
Playtimes - Children will have indoor and outdoor play incorporated into the day, with an emphasise on natural and non toxic toys, open ended toys, and natural sensory toys that feed the soul and foster imagination.
Festivals and Celebrations - A part of coming together as a community is preparing for our festivals and celebrations and other important Islamic events. These include, Ramadan, Eid ul Fir, Eid ul Adha, The Islamic New year, Yawmul Arafat, The nIght ascension and Hajj. We will work on crafts and art projects to further enhance family celebrations at home, or to allow the children to gain a sense of importance with our Islamic history. In celebrating seasonal holidays, the goal is to develop in the child a sense of rhythm and the passage of time catered around our faith.
